Concert Venues

Live performances of any kind are a popular form of enjoyment. Many people purchase concert tickets to go and view their favourite music acts live on stage. This can be anything from orchestral concerts to music stars performing songs from their latest album. Concert events can sometimes be for charity, a popular example being Live Aid. Thousands of people will attend to watch popular artists perform in order to raise money for a particular cause.

The venue in which a concert is held will vary depending on the type of concert. For example, orchestral performances will be held in orchestra halls. Festivals such as the world-famous Glastonbury festival and the V festival are held on an open field. Charity concerts are often held in outdoor venues too, whether this is a football stadium or an open field. This demonstrates the diversity of concert venues. They can be permanent or temporary, and likewise, indoors, or outdoors. Some special, one-off concerts are held in unusual places such as yachts and ships. Again, this could be for charity, or an exclusive event of some form.

Venues will generally be designed specially for the type of performances they can hold. Jazz concerts will generally be held in jazz houses. An opera house will hold performances with classical music. A venue will also include a pub, or nightclub, where more contemporary forms of music are played. Some concert venues may charge admission costs, whereas some are free. Those that are free will be those that play in public places such as bandstand. Often, admission fees may go towards a charity.
