For the latest government advice CLICK HERE CONTACT US OVERVIEW The SETA Youth Academy is a 3-day touch training camp for athletes aged 12 -17 years looking for a pathway into the England selection. ABOUT THE ACADEMY Participants who attend the academy are selected from the camp to represent SETA at Nationals and possibly fast-tracked into the England set up prior to the Youth Touch World Cup. The representative teams in the SE are Sharks and Taipans. The regional coaches come together to coach the teams and are supported and assisted by High-Performance Touch coaches & players. WHY ATTEND? This event plays an important role in developing young aspiring players and provides pathway opportunities. The camp includes agility and skill components, fitness testing, body management, injury prevention and an elite induction with guest speakers. WANT TO KNOW MORE? INSURANCE In2Touch has Public Liability Insurance to cover their running of the event. Player insurance is not covered, players should arrange their own insurance whichever way is best for them. FOOD We recommend players bring their own food and beverages. Refreshments will be available for purchase at the club house throughout the day. PHOTOGRAPHY There will be photos of the event taken, please make all players aware. SOUTH EAST TAIPANS REPRESENTATION The South East Taipans boasts a proud competitive history and ongoing pathway to elite level competition and England representation. SOUTH EAST FACE-OFF SELECTION AND ELITE TOUCH SERIES The South East Face-off series is a two-day series held over a weekend, to give players of the SETA training squads the opportunity to apply and execute their skills and fundamentals with campaign learnings, in an elite game scenario indicative of national representative competition. Players will be split out into their likely franchise squad and compete in a formal match scenario. Held in the lead up to The Nationals, this is a key weekend for coaches looking to make the final selection. We will assess players of all age grades to deliver the most competitive and balanced final teams for South East representation. The Face-off series is also an exciting opportunity for the South East to showcase elite representative touch within the region, and we'll look to host spectators and supporters, where the latest health and safety advice allows. For the latest government advice CLICK HERE CONTACT US YOUTH GRADE TOUCH Upcoming events AGES UP TO 18 SETA is aware that to grow the game of touch in the region we must focus energy on youth development. With that, our priorities are to create more exposure in schools and sports clubs. SETA aims to be the largest feeder of young athletes into the England High Performance programme as well as offering social touch leagues to those who enjoy the sport. SETA recognises that sport is incredibly important for mental health, growth and physical literacy. Physical literacy has five elements - enjoyment, confidence, competence, understanding and knowledge. The more elements present, the more active a child or young person is likely to be. England Touch and South East Touch Association have developed a suite of resources to cater for the varying skill level of students. For the latest government advice CLICK HERE CONTACT US OVERVIEW England Touch and South East Touch Association have developed a suite of resources to cater for the varying skill levels of students. The resources are not to an age group, but rather to the student’s level of development. 1. PLAY FOR LIFE INTRODUCTION U ses modified rules to meet the developmental needs of young Touch players. The program consists of seven sequential, game-based lessons suitable for primary school students of all abilities. 2. FOUNDATION DEVELOPMENT Has been structured to work in school settings and follows on from the ‘Play for Life’ resource. This resource is designed to assist those with a minimal understanding of Touch, to deliver and teach the foundation skills of the game. 4. TALENT ID PATHWAY Has been structured to operate over 3-4 sessions in schools for players recommended by their current teachers that show good ability and could possibly make England selection. Once identified, these players will be invited to camps to be fast-tracked into the England set up. 3. SKILL SCHOOL PROGRESSION Has been structured to work in a school setting and follows on from the Foundation Coaching Resource. This resource is designed to assist those with an extension on the skills taught at the foundation level, to develop and deliver a catered physical education program for students. COACHING DELIVERED PACKAGE PACKAGE INCLUDES: 4 - 8 sessions (45 - 60 minute sessions) of touch coaching from our qualified field officers. Schools need to provide a minimum of 10 touch balls and 12 cones to effectively run the program. Schools are recommended to purchase an equipment package, or specific items, to give your school everything that it needs to deliver a successful touch program. WANT TO KNOW MORE?
